Archaeological studies suggest that on the territory of the Castle courtyard, the area of which is 0.72 hectares, there were single-storey wooden buildings (barracks) near three walls (excluding the southern one). The remnants of foundations and tiled stoves have been preserved from them.
In the middle, the courtyard was paved with stone. Closer to the eastern wall there were two wells and a forge. Not far from the northern wall, closer to the center of the courtyard, there was a house of the commandant of the Castle.
The central entrance to the Castle was originally on the east side (the small gate). Archaeologists have identified the lower parts of the gateway arch, built of oversized bricks, two large stones at the base of the gateway arch, in which there is remained holes for the bushings of the panels of the castle gates.
The escape way from the Castle was on the south side - a small semicircular opening at a height of 4 m from the original level of the courtyard and it was possible to get there only with the help of a long ladder.
In the XV century the Royal gate (large entrance) was installed in the eastern wall. The entrance was located near the northeastern tower at a height of 2.5 m. The only way to get into the Castle through it was by using a drawbridge.
On the west side there is a gate, which was installed only in the 80s of the XX century for the passage of trucks with construction material. Nowadays, this entrance is the central one.
